Deutsche Basisdaten
The Geolympix will be held in Oxford Town Hall on July 22nd 2012 in the centre of this historic city; a time and location convenient
for visitors to the London 2012 Summer Olympics; officially 'The Games of the XXX Olympiad'.
Just an hour from London, the Oxford area offers stunning English scenery, historic sporting, cultural and literary sites and unparalleled hospitality. The Geolympix Mega programme includes a full set of satellite events, a 26 mile 385 yard (42.2Km) cache series, opening and closing ceremonies and as much geocaching goodness as can be fitted in!
This International Mega Event 'cache meet is similar to a regular Geocaching Event but will be much larger, giving visitors the chance to meet cachers from all over the world, swap travel items - TBs and Geocoins - and attend seminars on all aspects of Geocaching. There will also be stands of interest to cachers, from caching supplies to clothing and from GPS equipment to relevant organisations.
In order to qualify as a Mega Event, the event cache must be attended by more than 500 people, so it's important to state how many cachers are in your group when you post a Will Attend log on the event's Geocaching.com page.
Since we're hoping to attract geocachers from all over the world, it would be nice if you could include which country you call home too. Wherever that is, you're sure of a warm welcome in England, in Oxford, and at the Geolympix!
Please use the links above to learn more about this unique event to celebrate the love of Geocaching as a sport/pastime/hobby/obsession. We hope you'll join us in Oxford on Sunday, July 22nd 2012!

PRE-REGISTER
In order to be confirmed as a Mega event on Geocaching.com as early as possible it was important for the organising team to show there was interest in the event; hence pre-registration. Over 560 people confirmed their intention to attend; your help was greatly appreciated!
To say "Thank You" for pre-registering, there will be special prizes for the 1st and 10th person to pre-register by email and one of the forms manually filled in will be picked from a hat to be the 'ceremonial' 100th pre-registered cacher/s - who attend the Geolympix!
The Geolympix Champion programme replaced the Pre-Reg scheme.
GEOLYMPIX Be Outstanding on the Field!
CHALLENGES
While Geocaching isn't a competitive game as such, many people who play it do enjoy beating their personal-bests, pushing themselves to solve difficult puzzle caches and difficult physical challenges too. To reflect this aspect of Geocaching the Geolympix team have helped set-up a selection of events and caches to give visitors the opportunity to achieve their geocaching goals.
Take a look at the Challenges page for more details.
